Miss Karen–Lead Infant Teacher
Hello, my name is Karen McDermott. I am the Lead Teacher for Infants. I graduated June 2014, from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Children’s Studies, with a minor in Psychology and Social Work. I have worked and volunteered with children from birth to 12 and have worked in various organizations, from health care centers to schools. I have been a part of St. Anne’s Early Learning Team since 2014.
My teaching philosophy:
Circle of security and Trust! The first year of a baby’s life is important. To make learning a successful journey across a lifespan, building a healthy relationship with infants is crucial. Healthy attachment and bonding provides security and trust. Infants are able to explore their worlds and learn through their environment by building healthy relationships with teachers.
